Joe Leone is a rising star in the R&B scene, having recently toured with R&B sensation October London and the legendary Tamar Braxton. Recently signed to Eric Benét’s JBR Creative Group record label, he’s been dropping well-received singles and gearing up for his first major album release.
CASE STUDY
Joe Leone previous website was a bit boring, and didn’t showcase any of his music or media on it well. He approached us having a clean and minimalistic vision for how he wanted his new website to look. He wanted earthy tones and colors to match his smooth and warm sound. He wanted the visual to be up front, instead of relying on wordy exposition. He also wanted a nice video on the landing page that gave a glimpse into what you can expect with his music, and the ability to expand on his site with new ideas when they pop up.

The minimalist design Joe requested made sure we had to design something simple and clean. We couldn’t rely on flashy graphics or bright color to keep attention, so instead we selected colors alongside Joe and went with a modern grid framework.
For the eye catcher on the front page, we created a medley of key moody scenes from some of his music videos that dominates the screen when you arrive. Immediately under that are two calls to action for his most recent works; the focus track/most recent single he’s released, and the last project itself. Then finally a carousel of all of his commercially released music videos so that his fans can get everything they’re looking for without even leaving the main page. We took one of his press photos and edited it to color match the selected colors and used it for a new subscribe page. And finally, we added a tour page with ticket sales and a calendar so he could make sales directly from his site.
THE RESULT
In the end, we created a quick and responsive website that wastes no screen real estate or time in displaying what’s important. Like some of our other projects, we will continue to make updates to this website and theme it to fit any new project he releases. And the mobile design matches the desktops and translates to perfection. He’s satisfied and happy to come up with new ideas for us to implement in the near future.
